Q&A
Questions
The ones we hear most, and a way to ask one that is not here.
What does it actually cost?
Splitting a video into its cuts is free. Opening one cut costs 10 credits. Signing up gives you 15 credits, so you can open a cut before paying anything. Full pricing.
Do I have to paste a token into the extension?
No. Press Connect in the extension, sign in on the page that opens, and it is done — nothing to copy. If you see a paste box, the extension is an old version; reload it from
chrome://extensions.A cut is taking forever. Did it break?
Reading a cut takes a few minutes, and the step label only changes when a whole stage finishes — so the number can sit still for a while. It keeps running if you switch tabs or close the page. If a cut does fail, the credits go back automatically and it returns to its locked state.
Which sites work?
Instagram and YouTube work. Streaming services with DRM (Netflix and friends) cannot work — the extension cannot read those frames. YouTube has a length cap because we download it on our side; Instagram does not, because your own browser collects it.
What happens to the video I capture?
We keep a copy while your cuts are being read, and the drawings we make from it stay in your library until you delete the pack. Deleting a pack removes the stored copy with it. Privacy.
Can Cutaway rebuild the cut for me?
Not yet. Right now Cutaway takes a video apart — the cuts, the lighting, the staging, the camera and the prompts written from those measurements. Turning them back into a new clip is the next thing we are working on, and we would rather not sell it before it is good.
Can I get my money back?
Failed work is refunded in credits automatically — you never have to ask. Refunds covers everything else. If something is wrong that is not on that page, ask below.
